My name is Shaba Namdar. I was born and raised in an artistic family of TV-program makers in Iran. My parents made children's programs that were popular in Iran from 1972 to 1984. I was involved in the creative process of these programs from an early age. Not only did I play the
puppets, but I also helped my father (the writer and director) with fun ideas regarding writing and directing. Reading and listening to my father’s idea’s regarding classical fairytales and Iranian Folklore was a very important part of this process. At the age of 11, after watching the film “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, I fell completely in love with film and film music.
I came to the Netherlands in 1984. Here in the Netherlands, I attended HAVO and the ‘Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague’, at the interfaculty of ‘Image and Sound’ which was a collaboration with the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. A few years later I did film analysis as part of the 'Media and Culture' faculty at the ‘University of Amsterdam’ for two years and completed several modules. Since 2003 I have worked in Dutch-TV and I have worked with various Iranian movie directors on different projects. I currently work as a freelancer and have a film production company where I have developed myself as a screenwriter, director, editor, actor, music maker and animator.
I am a real story teller in heart and soul. I have a broad interest and immerse myself in many different subjects such as philosophy, music, film, science, culture, languages, art, nature, technology, medical science, etc... I get inspired with this acquired knowledge and I use it during my writing process.
