Slava was born in Kyiv in 1985. In 2007 he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television with a Master of Arts degree in television.
In 2007 Slava became the host of the historical television show “In Search for the Truth”, 5 seasons, 100 episodes.
In 2011 Slava won a Fulbright scholarship and went to the US to do his second Master’s degree in television management.
Slava came back to Ukraine in 2013. Since then he has worked as a teaching professor at KNUTCT and built up his film career as a producer and director. In 2018 he co-founded the “Manifesto18” film company. The company has produced 5 short films and has one 3D animated film, 2 documentary features, and 2 new media projects.
When the war started Slava’s wife was in the 9th month of pregnancy. So they had to flee Ukraine to find a safe place to give birth and also for their 3-year-old son. Eventually, the family ended up in Groningen. When the war started Slava was in the development of his third documentary feature and the development of a fiction project. Unfortunately, the war has ruined everything. Since October 2023 Slava has been working with Jelle Brandt Corstius on his new TV series about Ukraine for VPRO.
