Alka Sadat is an award-winning Afghan documentary filmmaker born in Herat, Afghanistan, in 1988. Her work focuses on social issues and injustices, particularly those affecting women and children. She co founded the Roya Film House (RFH) and coordinated the first Afghanistan International Women’s Film Festival in 2013. Sadat began her filmmaking career in 2003 and has produced several acclaimed documentaries, including "First Number," which won the Afghan Peace Prize, and "Half Value Life," which received multiple international awards. She moved to the Netherlands in 2015, where she continued her filmmaking career, directing the documentary "Fleur op 'e Flecht" for Omrop Fryslân TV and the short film "I SPIT MYSELF ONTO A PAGE" in 2023.
